Hi Jim,

Thank you for asking how I am doing and for your great book. I read the book in two days, and I have to tell you I'm 32 years old and I had never read an entire book (in English) in my life. [Ana is from Portugal].

It was such great help I couldn't get enough of it. Reading your book and the things you went through gave me hope and strength to learn even more about Mormonism.

After I told my friend that I no longer want to be a member of the Church, she could not believe my decision. She started crying over the phone and a day later she and her husband drove all the way from Arizona to talk to me. Her husband--who by the way is Portuguese like me--told me that he would prefer to see me dead then making the decision I made, because at least he would know were I would go. He compared my decision by saying that is like you get all your food from the store and you eat very good, and then somebody comes along and tells me I should eat from the dumpster and I do. My response to all of that was no matter what you tell me you are not going to be able to change my mind, and you are just making things worse. He took me crying in his arms and told me that he was very sad for me.

Since then we never spoke about the church again. I thank you with all my heart for all your help. You can not imagine how much it meant to me that you called and I was abble to talk to you.

Thank you Jim

Ana
